MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The Cultural Center of the Philippines presents “Behind Arias and Showstoppers: Conversations with the Pinoy Stars of Opera and Musical Theater,” a two-part show featuring the leading Filipino performing artists and theater personalities in the Philippines.
Moderated by Floy Quintos, part one of the Behind Arias will premiere on May 21, 2022, 6pm. Second part will stream on May 28, 2022, 6pm. Both episodes will be available for streaming at the official CCP Facebook page and YouTube Channel.
Part 1: Duet For Tenor And Leading Lady captures a conversation between musical theater actress Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo and internationally-renown opera singer Arthur Espiritu. Both have formidable careers and share many learnings about their chosen art.
While the two start out talking about the essential differences between opera and musical theater, the conversation steers towards the important life lessons they have learned about the dedication, training and discipline that guided the pursuit of their dreams.
Part 2: Quartet For Leading Lights features opera singers Rachelle Gerodias and Camille Lopez-Molina, musical theater artists Sheila Francisco and Reb Atadero who have devoted their life in their arts.
Sharing their journey through the world of opera and musical theater, the four established talents trace their stops and starts, as well as the highlights and trials of their careers.
The conversations range from the differences and similarities of the training, the preparation, rehearsal process and performance of the Musical and the Opera.
