Awards: BBDO Pakistan wins its third Grand Effie in a row for Shalamar Hospital / Babar Ali Foundation campaign

ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN — Completing an unprecedented hat-trick, BBDO Pakistan has for the third year in a row won the ultimate prize at Effies Pakistan 2021: the Grand Effie.

The accolade was given to the campaign “Hot Tea Stains” for Shalamar Hospital / Babar Ali Foundation, a project which was so effective that it reduced the incidents of child burns by 50% at the hospital. The powerful film behind the campaign, shining a spotlight on the fact that the majority of skin burns on Pakistani children are due to everyday hot tea spills, was shot by Jami at Azadfilm Company. The posters for the campaign were photographed by Zahid Ghauri and Zooni Afzal.

This year’s Grand Effie for BBDO Pakistan follows their previous wins of the same in the 2019 and 2020 editions.

In addition to the biggest prize of the night, BBDO Pakistan also took home 2 Golds, 3 Silvers and a Bronze across projects for Unilever Corporate, Surf Excel and Reckitt.

Effie Awards – launched in 1968 in New York – stand for effectiveness in marketing, spotlighting ideas that work and encouraging thoughtful dialogue about the drivers of marketing effectiveness. Pakistan Effie Awards were launched in 2019 and are run by the Pakistan Advertisers’ Society – this was the third event held in the country.
