MANILA, PHILIPPINES — From close to 600 entries of almost 40 countries who participated, Webplay Virtual Events took home the Bronze at the 11th Eventex Awards. The country’s first virtual event platform launched by Waveplay Interactive is the only Filipino company recognized by the most esteemed accolade in the world of events and experiential marketing in this year’s awards show.

In spite of the pandemic stunning the world and leaving the industry scrambling for ways on how to cope with the new normal, Waveplay raised the bar by seamlessly transitioning from on-ground to online events. Waveplay produced over 60 unique virtual venues, ran over 300 live event days, accommodated more than 700,000 attendees, and produced more than 250 custom side activities, all within its first eight months.

Webplay Virtual Events is the brainchild of Sharon Yu Ong, who is the co-founder and CEO of Waveplay Interactive—the pioneers of interactive event experiences in the Philippines. This feat gave Sharon the moniker, “Queennovator”, being the Chief Playmaker responsible for the biggest and most innovative event experiences in this era. Because of this, Sharon herself was given a commendation as Innovator of the Year in Campaign Asia’s Women Leading Change Awards (WLCA), making her the sole individual awardee from the Philippines in this year’s awards show.

Now on its 5th run, WLCA celebrates women who lead, inspire, and motivate greatness in the fields of media, advertising, PR, and marketing across Asia-Pacific.

This is just the first time that the Waveplay team joined these award shows. So, with this recognition at the 11th Eventex Awards, and Sharon’s commendation at WLCA, they have the license to scream “achievement unlocked!” while we all watch them make bigger waves not just in the country but soon around the world.
