The 15th Kidlat Awards honors ‘creativity recharged’ with TBWA\SMP, McDonald’s, Soundesign Manila and Arcade Film Factory coming out on top

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — At the 15th Kidlat Awards organized by the Creative Guild of the Philippines and 4As Philippines, members of the advertising industry once again gathered to celebrate creative excellence in the country. This year’s edition saw a record number of entries, making the competition even tougher than before. From big brands to emerging startups, everyone vied for a chance to take home the coveted metals and special awards.

The winners were revealed last February 24 in Xylo at The Palace, Taguig City.

TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno (TBWA\ SMP) emerged as the most-awarded agency at the recently concluded Kidlat Awards, with a total of six gold, eight silver, and 15 bronze metals. The agency’s innovative and creative campaigns not only impressed the judges but also resonated with the target audience. All this led to TBWA\ SMP being awarded as the much-coveted “Agency of the Year.”

QSR giant McDonald’s also took home a slew of awards and earned itself the “Advertiser of the Year” recognition. Completing the Kidlat Special Awards, Soundesign Manila was named “Audio Production House of the Year,” while Arcade Film Factory was announced “Film Production House of the Year.”

To complete the night’s festivities, the Creative Guild and 4As Philippines also honored the year’s Lifetime Achievement Awardees for their astounding contributions to the local and global advertising world. This year, the Lifetime Achievement Award for Production honored Butch Garcia, one of the most highly respected and renowned directors in the game who has worked with most, if not all, of the Philippines’ advertising giants throughout his long and illustrious career.

Joining him in the 15th Kidlat Awards’ list of awardees was Lifetime Achievement Awardee for Creative Merlee Jayme, a powerhouse of a creative who has taken Filipino creativity all over the globe. With 34 years of her life dedicated to the craft, she vowed to push even further and “pursue a purpose project for creativity for all which is diverse, equitable and inclusive for all.”
