Manila, Philippines – Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Philippines, Inc. has announced new brands, two state of the art farm equipment, and a new educational website to local animal health care professionals during the recent Philippine Veterinary Medical Association’s 90th Scientific Conference and Annual Convention.

The event, held last February at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, served as a platform for updates on the latest technical innovations and knowledge in animal health. Working under the convention’s theme of “Strengthening the Practice of Veterinary Medicine with Advanced Technologies and Networks,” Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health proceeded to unveil new products and devices that were of interest to the audience at large.

“At Boehringer Ingelheim, we count on innovation as one of our core values. Fueled by our passion to improve the lives and well-being of humans and animals alike, our relentless pursuit of advancement delivered us these new products and devices,” said Dr. Sukje Sung, Head of Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Philippines, Inc.

Dr. Sung gave an overview of the new variants of Vaxxitek for poultry and the three new brands for the three main species the company is introducing in the country: Prevexxion RN for poultry, Entericolix for swine, and Vetmedin S for dogs with cardiac health concerns.

Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Philippines Inc. launches Vetmedin S for canine heart disease, Vaxxitek HVT IBD ILT, Vaxxitek HVT IBD ND and Prevexxion RN for poultry diseases, and Entericolix for swine disease symptoms.

Vaxxitek HVT IBD ILT and Vaxxitek HVT IBD ND helps prevent Infectious Bursal Disease, Marek’s Disease, Newcastle Disease, and Infectious Laryngotracheitis in poultry, while Prevexxion RN is effective against very virulent strains of Marek’s disease. For swine, Entericolix provides 21 days of immunity against diarrhea caused by E. coli and C. perfringens Type C, as well as protection against Edema disease; and, for dogs with heart disease, Boehringer Ingelheim introduces Vetmedin S, a product that has been proven to delay the onset of congestive heart failure and improves the quality of life of dogs.

“As innovative and as effective these products and tools may be, they can only serve their purpose with the help of every veterinary professional in this room and all over the Philippines. Boehringer Ingelheim reaches out to you. You are key in making the purpose of these products and tools come to life,” Dr. Sung said.

Dr. Sukje Sung, Head of Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health emphasizes that innovation is a core value for the company as the team unveils new products and tools for animal health care.

“Let us make these innovations work to make their benefits count in the lives of humans and animals here in the Philippines,” he continued.

Reinforcing Dr. Sung was Dr. Melvin Cassion, Customer Experience Lead for Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Philippines, Inc.: “When it comes to animal health care, we are already past the era of treatment and control, that was so fifteen years ago. Next came prevention. But now, Boehringer Ingelheim is in the age of shifting from prevention to disease prediction.”

With that statement, he underscored the tools being made accessible to the Philippine swine industry: FreVAX™, an innovative intramuscular needle free vaccine injection device for pigs and SoundTalks®, a device that uses artificial intelligence combined with always-on, in-barn audio monitoring to detect signs of respiratory disease.

Shortly thereafter, Dr. Cassion unveiled the Animal Health Hub, an online learning portal designed for veterinarians to have easy access to various learning modules allowing them to update themselves with the latest tech and knowledge. Initially going live with the focus on companion animals such as dogs and cats, the site will soon include other species and will be opened to related users, such as veterinary students, farm managers, veterinary technicians, and the like.
