MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The world’s first all-bacon snack brand, Baken, has launched its world-class sweet, savory, and meaty treats at Kultura, a go-to destination for Filipino goods and souvenirs. This expansion will make Baken accessible to tourists and balikbayans nationwide, including a new presence in the VisMin region.
To mark the launch of Baken in Kultura, the 2024 Katha Awardee participated in the first-ever Kultura Crawl. During the media launch at Kultura’s store in SM Megamall on July 04, F&B experts were in attendance, including Pinoy mixologists, baristas, and chefs.
Kultura Crawl features elevated food market themes inspired by traditional food crawls, aiming to celebrate community and showcase quality Filipino fare through an interactive food fair lasting from July 04 to July 17.
During the media launch, Baken offered a unique 100% Filipino tasting experience with flavors curated in partnership with well-known Filipino brands such as fine dining restaurant Gallery by Chele and premium liquor brand Don Papa Rum.
A demonstration on snack pairing by Chef Eyan Udtujan, Head Chef of Gallery by Chele, highlighted the versatility of each Baken product, showcasing bites that transcend traditional snacking. The crafted Baken menu featured Lechon Bacon Croquetas, a Filipino-style Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich with bacon jam, and a Tart with honey-cured ham, bacon jam, black garlic, and local citrus hollandaise, all served with Bacon in a Glass made with Don Papa Rum.
Baken Founder and CEO Rachel Carrasco felt elated over the partnership with Kultura, especially as the premium souvenir retail store commits to connecting tourists and balikbayans with Filipino heritage.
“We’re happy to be part of the Kultura family. It is an honor to be included among a roster of local brands that truly embody the best of what the Philippines has to offer,” Rachel said.
She also emphasized that their products offer a smoky taste of 100% real bacon in every bite with no artificial substitutes.
Baken is made with a premium cut of pork that undergoes a unique process, resulting in the Perfect Real Bacon Crisp. Its crispy meat snack format sets it apart from bacon jerky, pork rinds, and bacon-flavored potato chips in the market.
For Fatima Uy, Kultura’s SAVP for Merchandising, Baken’s unique offering as a local business lines up with its own advocacy.
“We are very excited to have Baken in our stores. Its product line is unique and premium quality. It is Kultura’s advocacy to support local businesses, and we’d love Baken to grow with us,” Fatima shared.
Baken is now available in select Kultura stores nationwide.
Baken products are also available in major outlets in the Philippines, such as One World Deli, Landers, Terry’s Selection, Brera, The Seven Pantry, and LazMall. Keep an eye out for Baken’s upcoming outlets in the coming months.
