MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Kindred Health, the pioneering femtech company in the Philippines, has successfully completed its pre-Series A funding round, raising $2.5 million in the first tranche. Additionally, the company has secured commitments for a further $3 million in the second tranche upon completion of key milestones. This brings the total round to $5.5 million, underscoring strong investor confidence in Kindred’s vision and potential.

Launched in 2021, Kindred has rapidly established itself as a leader in the healthcare and femtech sectors by offering accessible, affordable, and elevated healthcare services for women. In 2022, it launched a web-based telehealth service and built a strong social media community. By 2023, Kindred raised $1 million in seed funding, opened its first clinic, and introduced the Kindred mobile app. This funding round was led by Integra Partners, with participation from key investors including Kaya Founders, KSR Ventures, Ava Zobel Pessina, Pawikan Capital Group, Tenco Capital, and esteemed individuals such as Dr.
Frans Beltran and Micaela Beltran. Healthcare-focused venture builder Pulse63 Healthcare Ventures continues to play a crucial role in guiding the company’s strategic direction and growth, demonstrating unwavering support for Kindred’s mission.

“We are deeply grateful to our investors for their trust and belief in our mission. This will enable us to scale our services, improve our technology, and increase our capacity to better serve our clients, paving the way for future generations of women in the Philippines,” said Jessica de Mesa-Lim, Co-founder and CEO of Kindred.

“At Integra, we believe that women’s health is a huge market opportunity in Southeast Asia and globally, especially as the healthcare industry starts to gain a deeper understanding of how women manifest different symptoms and respond to treatments differently across a range of diseases and conditions,” said Jennifer Ho, Partner at Integra Partners. “It’s been a privilege to work with Jess to map out the future of Kindred and how it can serve this burgeoning market.”

Kindred taps into a growing need

Beginning with a virtual clinic during the pandemic, the company went on to open a physical clinic in Taguig City in 2023 to better meet the needs of its clients. Partnering with more than 70 doctors across 25 sub-categories, Kindred offers consultations with trusted specialists from OBGYN to mental health, contraceptives, health screenings, immunizations, IV therapy, nutrition, and fitness coaching, as well as other wellness services. Committed to aligning clients’ expectations with their experience, Kindred also launched the Kindred mobile app, simplifying service discovery, appointment booking, follow-ups, and continuity of care.

By 2024, Kindred’s client list had grown to more than 20,000 women, on the strength of that single clinic in Taguig that had only opened last year. Remarkably, over 40% of these clients have returned for multiple visits, highlighting the company’s strong product-market fit. Kindred is launching a new clinic in Quezon City to keep up with this growing demand in July.

Scaling fast to meet demand

This latest funding has been earmarked for these key strategic initiatives:

  1. Geographical expansion: Kindred plans for 10 additional clinics by year end, especially in underserved areas, ensuring greater accessibility to high-quality healthcare services for women across the Philippines.
  2. Investment in tech: Kindred intends to further improve its digital platforms, providing a more seamless online-to-offline (O2O) experience for its users.
  3. New services and improvements to existing ones: In addition to enhancing existing services, Kindred plans to launch new offerings tailored to address critical women’s health issues, including infectious diseases, infertility, and menopause to name a few. These new services will be designed to help women navigate and understand their options, offering personalized and comprehensive care solutions that empower them to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.

These strategic initiatives underscore Kindred’s dedication to paving the way for femtech innovation in the Philippines.
