MANILA, PHILIPPINES — In its unwavering commitment to empower entrepreneurs to grow their businesses online, leading ecommerce destination Lazada brought learning opportunities on digital entrepreneurship closer to community-based sellers nationwide.

Lazada’s commitment and resolve to fuel the business growth of MSMEs in the country has never been stronger. In 2022, the entire company came together to directly engage and support close to 5,000 sellers in-person for the first time since the pandemic and trained over 250,000 more Lazada sellers through daily instructional livestream sessions via Lazada University. Lazada Philippines also supported the digitization of close to 850,000 businesses as they were officially onboarded as sellers in partnership with some of the country’s top business associations, chambers of commerce, and local government units.

The Lazada Seller CommuniTours program is designed to strengthen Lazada’s position as a true partner in business for brands and sellers across the country. The CommuniTours kicked off at Rosalla’s Event Place in Taytay, Rizal on March 22, with Lazada leads sharing business tips and insights to up-and-coming Lazada sellers in the morning session, and to more experienced Lazada sellers in the afternoon run.

“Lazada’s business has always been about growing and building Filipino businesses, and CommuniTours reflects that commitment,” said Carlos Barrera, Lazada’s Chief Executive Officer. “We are encouraging more Filipino entrepreneurs to be part of our Lazada Seller Community and empowering them to reach their goals and maximize their potential.”

Lazada leaders shared some helpful insights with both new and existing sellers. To carry its momentum from last year in helping businesses thrive, the count for new sellers receiving their first orders within a month, doubled. New sellers likewise recorded a six-fold growth in sales after adopting Lazada Sponsored Solutions and received an eight-time uplift in monthly orders after joining Lazada campaigns.

New sellers were likewise reminded of the value of customer care, as the leaders shared that managing the buyer’s expectations and delivering the best experience will be key to developing a loyal customer base. They also touched on the vital role of after-sales service, pointing to constant communication with buyers as an important tool in building customer relationships and trust.

Present as well to share her experiences with new sellers was entrepreneur Mayette Jequinto, owner of women’s clothing brand Plus Size Boutique. The Lazada Seller Ambassador shared a few things to remember in building an online business.

Make sure na alam mo ‘yung products na ibebenta, sino ba ‘yung target customer mo, then identify the needs of your market and find the right business partner,” she said. “You also need to build a good relationship with your supplier.”

Meanwhile, in highlighting key achievements and enhancements in the platform, Head of Commercial Strategy and Operations Janet Siasoco, shared, “Madali man gumalaw nang mag-isa, mas maganda gumalaw nang sama-sama, at ‘yun ang gagawin natin, sa tulong niyo, ng Lazada team at ng Lazada ambassadors. We assure you that we will continue doing our CommuniTours to help more Lazada sellers nationwide.”
