MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Procter & Gamble (P&G) Philippines, maker of trusted household brands like Safeguard, Tide, Downy, and Pampers, has integrated environmental sustainability into its operations by developing product innovations that are superior and sustainable. The company takes its environmental stewardship to the next level with its Ambition 2030 declaration which presents its commitment to Climate, Waste, Water, and Nature.
Among its Ambition 2030 goals, P&G is committed to progress towards 100% of its consumer packaging being recyclable or reusable by 2030, aiming to minimize waste generated throughout the manufacturing and end-user lifecycle. By 2030, P&G also targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent across its operational sites. The company also actively supports natural climate solutions that conserve and restore natural ecosystems and biodiverse areas.
Manufacturing efforts addressing waste, climate, and water
In the Philippines, the P&G Cabuyao Manufacturing Plant is a certified Zero Manufacturing Waste to Landfill facility. This state-of-the-art plant plays a vital role in producing a wide range of P&G products, including diapers, laundry detergents, sanitary pads, and more, serving both local and international markets.
The P&G Cabuyao plant demonstrates its commitment to sustainability by recycling a substantial amount of plastic waste annually. Additionally, it has taken proactive steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent through purchasing 100 percent renewable electricity. P&G has also implemented measures to optimize power consumption at the plant, resulting in substantial carbon avoidance.
Inspiring responsible consumption
P&G brands have implemented various sustainable initiatives to promote responsible consumption. Herbal Essences uses 25 percent post-consumer resin (recycled plastic) in its bio:renew shampoo bottles. Safeguard replaced the plastic overwrap on its soap multipacks with recycled paper cartons which avoided potential plastic waste equivalent to 1,000 times the length of Boracay’s shoreline. Olay’s “Ship-In-Own-Container” introduced molded packaging for online purchases which eliminated the need for additional packaging materials such as bubble wrap and fillers.
P&G’s Ambition 2030 goals support the company and its brand’s ability to provide irresistible superiority that is sustainable to improve lives now and for generations to come.
