TACLOBAN, PHILIPPINES — Electronics brand Sony Philippines, in collaboration with RL Appliance, recently conducted the Cinematic Wedding Filmmaking masterclass in Tacloban. The event perfectly coincided with the celebration of RL Tacloban’s 7th anniversary. Led by acclaimed visionary and Sony Alpha Professional Sherard Yu, the class featured mastering the art of crafting cinematic wedding films.
Recently held at Rotary Center Tacloban, local wedding photographers and videographers attended the Cinematic Wedding Filmmaking masterclass. The initiative aimed to equip visual storytellers with the knowledge and skills to immortalize special nuptial moments.
The immersive one-day masterclass started with a comprehensive discussion where Sherard Yu shared invaluable techniques for cinematic storytelling. This included the fundamentals of capturing emotions and utilizing various camera features, emphasizing the significance of proper lighting, and integrating music and sound design to enhance the overall impact.
“The most special element in any wedding is being able to capture the raw and natural moments. With Sony’s fast auto-focusing camera and lenses, we can capture candid moments for our clients’ special day,” Sherard explained, emphasizing the significance of using the right equipment in filmmaking.
He shared that he currently uses Sony’s ZV-E1 full-frame vlog camera for its top-of-the-line features, such as the Dynamic Active Mode and Framing Stabilizer, subject recognition, and high-speed processing, packed into an impressively compact, lightweight body.
Following the lecture, participants delved into a video editing workshop to ignite their creativity and empower them to craft compelling output. It covered various aspects of video editing, such as storyboarding, color grading, transitions, effects, and other important elements that elevate the discernable allure of their wedding films.
Sherard also held a practical shooting experience where participants immersed themselves in the art of capturing authentic moments and emotions to produce breathtaking wedding footage. They were given the unique opportunity to film a wedding couple to try diverse shooting environments, frame shots, manage lighting conditions, and direct subjects. This allowed them to hone their technical skills while simultaneously nurturing their artistic perception and storytelling abilities.
As same-day edits have become a cherished wedding tradition, participants were also immersed in the Same Day Edit session. This encouraged them to test their newly acquired skills in real-time editing scenarios, adding an extra layer of excitement and challenge to their learning experience.
