Taiwan’s wood-themed amusement park, The Wooderful Land, comes to Hong Kong

HONG KONG — As an intrinsic part of nature, trees and their conservation have become a hot topic among environmental organizations worldwide, with a focus on introducing the manifold aspects of natural wood and spreading messages about forest and ecosystem conservation. In collaboration with The Wooderful Land, Taiwan’s trending wood-themed indoor amusement park with over 80 million visits under its belt, MCP CENTRAL is bringing the facility loved by Taiwanese hipsters and families to Hong Kong from July 15 to September 03.

“Summer in the Wooderful Land” is an inspirational, educational, and soothing experience built around five aspects of “competition, science, knowledge, challenge, and healing.” The journey commences at the six-meter-tall treehouse, whence visitors embark on an adventure replete with motion-sensing games in the woods, followed by a carpentry art exhibition and a mini certificate course about conservation to instill in young minds a love of nature and the awareness of environmental conservation for a meaningful summer holiday.

Multisensory journey of tree conservation begins with six-meter-tall treehouse

At the heart of MCP CENTRAL, a total of six checkpoints are erected for an idyllic expedition. At the entrance of the forest, Mr. Bear and Little Racoon greet visitors with plenty of photo opportunities. They will soon lead visitors to the six-meter-tall Giant Forest Treehouse, where the cute and perky Little Fox waves hello. Don’t miss the “Carpenter Studio” inside the “Tree Conservation Science Zone” as you enjoy the stunning vistas of the forest. You can have a tactile experience with natural logs from different parts of the world, including Taiwan. Try your hand at woodwork here with a myriad of fun activities, such as the T-puzzles or Burr puzzles, traditional mortise techniques, and wood structure creation. The studio offers a fun way to soak up STEAM skills as you put your hands and brain to work. Meanwhile, the “Conservation Tree” leverages interactive installations to illustrate fun facts about logs and forests, such as the growth rings and many more topics.

Another must-see checkpoint for hipsters is the “Tree Conservation Exhibition Zone” where recycled logs collected by local artist-run carpenter group Chipgoodguy Studio are displayed. By understanding the common species and characteristics of recycled logs in Hong Kong, as well as their respective ecosystems, visitors can grasp the journey of recycled logs and hence, spread the message of tree conservation and a green lifestyle. Apart from recycled logs, the exhibition also includes wood art pieces made by Chipgoodguy Studio, including a baby table soccer game, a wooden pullback car, a scale model of a whale, and a brooch in the shape of the much-loved Mount Fuji, complemented with illustrations of the materials used and production processes. In this area, visitors can also explore the knowledge about forests and wood through sight, smell, and touch.

Flaunt your prowess with motion-sensing zipline and wooden ball shooting range

No exciting jungle expedition is complete without some thrilling challenges. In the “Tree Conservation Challenge Zone,” a Hong Kong exclusive motion-sensing zipline challenge is in place just for H·COINS members.

After the challenge, don’t forget to take pictures with Little Elephant, Little Racoon, or Little Monkey! H·COINS members can also participate in the “Wooden Ball Catapulting Game” in the “Tree Conservation Competition Zone.”

Those who want to relive childhood memories can try the wooden catapult made by Chipgoodguy Studio to hone your skills with cute little animals!
