MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Live streaming is probably the most bandwidth-intensive activity you can do on your mobile phone. That’s why when TNT, the Philippines’ largest prepaid mobile network, wanted to show that it was “pinakamalakas sa Pinas” (the strongest [internet network] in the Philippines), creative agency Ace Saatchi & Saatchi came up with the largest product demonstration the country has ever seen.
Dubbed “The Petmaloop Challenge” on TikTok, this ultimate torture test enlisted the help of local influencers all over the country to help them test TNT’s signal strength and stability by live streaming from their hometowns and on the road. Using one mobile phone running on the TNT network, the phone was passed from vlogger to vlogger from one end of the country to another. The TikTokers live streamed from countrysides, beaches, hilltops, and different locations across the islands of the Philippines.
The phone traveled from Mindanao through the Visayas, and made a loop around Luzon. The team traversed more than 3,000 kilometers through land and sea. But they didn’t stop there. To end this epic road test, they decided to livestream for 26 hours straight, uninterrupted, while traveling from the North-Eastern province of Bulacan to the iconic Kilometer 0 marker in the capital of Manila.
During the culminating activity, Guinness World Record representatives kept a watchful eye as TNT and its small army of influencers attempted to set the world record for “The Longest Travel Livestream (video)” in the world. Starting on the morning of November 18 from Bustos, Bulacan, making their way through five cities, and then finally arriving in Manila by lunch time of November 19.
Live streaming uninterrupted the whole time, through open fields and dense urban areas, TNT not only set a Guinness World Record, but also demonstrated the strength of its network around the country with “The Petmaloop Challenge.”
