SINGAPORE — Air New Zealand, the flag carrier airline for New Zealand, today announced the launch of its new campaign film titled “That Indescribable Feeling” to reinvigorate the desire for travel through the universal catharsis that global travelers are feeling towards flying again. This is in line with New Zealand lifting pre-departure COVID-19 testing requirements from yesterday and also fully opening its borders by July 31, 2022.
Air New Zealand is also preparing for the surge of excited travelers by increasing the frequency of its SIN-AKL route (non-stop) from three times weekly to daily flights, starting July 04, 2022.
The two-minute film unveils the universal relief brought about by the travel drought, and the new world of known unknowns that come with borders reopening. The indescribable feeling is many things to many people. For some, it is the feeling of release and freedom after a prolonged period of being landbound. For others, it’s the chance to explore, meet new people, or be reunited with loved ones after so long.
Jonathan Zhang, General Manager, Asia, Air New Zealand, says that the return to the skies is one of the most exhilarating times for travelers who have not traveled overseas for a long time. “We’re excited to connect even more travelers to New Zealand. The increase in flight frequencies for the SIN-AKL (non-stop) route from three times a week to daily provides greater peace of mind for our customers who are experiencing the travel frenzy in the region. We are heartened by the growing demand for flights since New Zealand’s reopening to Singapore, and remain committed to delivering our high safety and service standards for customers in Asia.”
That Indescribable Feeling: Let Air New Zealand Take You There
“The Indescribable Feeling” follows the story of a young couple who is preparing to fly to New Zealand after the reopening of travel borders. They go through familiar pre-flight moments such as shortlisting travel outfits for the best pictures, reviewing their jam-packed travel itinerary, and deciding between an aisle or window seat — all of which present the female partner’s eagerness in contrast to the male partner’s seeming indifference.
Ultimately, the film reveals that the male partner is also anticipating the trip and is preparing in his own way, such as practicing his “Kia Ora” greeting in the mirror every night. Filled with humorous and heartwarming scenes, the film closes as the couple is warmly greeted by Air New Zealand’s staff before they depart for the destination.
As part of this campaign, content creators like Nicole Chang Min (@nicolechangmin) and Audrey Ooi (@fourfeetnine) are also brought on board to share their unique take on the campaign tagline — “That Indescribable Feeling” — through a video reel and contest giveaway where their followers stand a chance to win flight tickets to New Zealand.
“Preparing to travel again can be intimidating as we deal with a world of unknowns. Air New Zealand is here to deliver our signature warm kiwi experience so our customers can enjoy a safe, hassle-free, and enjoyable journey,” Zhang added.
