COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – It can be hard to navigate the rules of employment in foreign country. As Eastern European labor has become almost synonymous with low wages in Scandinavia over the past couple of decades, these workers are at great risk of being underpaid.
To inform the foreign workers of their rights, the Norwegian Work Council (Arbeidstilsynet) has created a campaign to address the issue with humor. In a new film directed by Øyvind Holtmon and produced by Bacon with GK Nordic as agency, an array of workers is seen doubling down on everything from coffee mugs to jeans to a car strapped on top of another.
Eye-catching with its ridiculous impracticalities and hilariously subtle reaction shots, the film drives home the point that workers could be entitled to double of what they are making at the moment. All they have to do is go to Knowyourrights.no, where it is possible to get information in both Norwegian, English, Bulgarian, Estonian, Lithuanian, Romanian and Russian.
