COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – Producing films for a living is all about overcoming unforeseen challenges, and in that regard 2020 has been the ultimate challenge. While restrictions and guidelines have constantly been changing, quality films have still been made through creative solutions and almost inhumane amounts of planning.

Scandinavia has not been as badly affected by the pandemic as many other places in the world, and therefore Bacon (based in Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm) has maintained a steady output of films – as well as helping international colleagues with remote productions, such as Martin de Thurah’s Ciclope Gold-winning spot for Facebook.

To commemorate this strange year, the Scandinavian production company has woven together 14 films made by Bacon and Bacon directors like Andreas Nilsson, Matias & Mathias and Martin Werner in 2020 to a Christmas card.

Even though there is of course a bunch of Bacon projects (including award-winning work by the likes of Emilie Thalund and Andreas Riiser) that has not made it to the Christmas card, the point remains: We may have found ways to produce films during the pandemic, but we are really looking forward to hopefully focusing more on creativity and less on restrictions in 2021. Until then, we just need to take extra good care of each other.

Merry Christmas!
