Campaign Spotlight: GIGIL illustrates the hopes of Filipino children in the Unilever #Shop2GiveHope project

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Unilever Philippines, the country’s premier consumer goods giant, tapped GIGIL anew to create their third company-wide Super Brand Day on Lazada. Held last July 1, the beneficiary was still UNICEF Philippines, but this time, the campaign bore a more urgent call to give hope to Filipino children whose education has been stopped by the current crisis.

Working together with Facebook Philippines, the indie ideas agency leveraged GIPHY, a GIF aggregating platform the company recently acquired. GIPHY is readily available on Instagram Stories and other Facebook platforms.

GIGIL’s idea: illustrate the hopes of Filipino children using the iconic products of Unilever using GIPHYs.

The result was a creative and clear visualization of #SHOP2GIVEHOPE: Unilever products funding the hopes of Filipino children to still continue their education, given that 15 percent of the proceeds of the one-day sale will be donated to UNICEF Philippines.

Just 12 hours into the sale, #SHOP2GIVEHOPE had already exceeded SHOP2GIVE 2019’s sales. Ultimately, the campaign ended 11:59PM on July 1 with revenues nearly doubling last year’s.

But the campaign doesn’t stop there. GIGIL and Facebook Philippines, together with Unilever, Lazada, and UNICEF, are inviting people to turn their Lazada shopping haul into platforms to illustrate the hopes of Filipino kids, to get more Filipinos to know about their plight.
