Is age the only number that defines a woman? This notion is being challenged by the latest campaign of Olay for International Women’s Day.
To break the stigma on ageing, Olay tapped on Grey Group to produce two short films that mark one number shared by two women with different narratives.
One film stars model Granny Huang who started her career later than most. “They say the stage is for the youth,” shared Granny Huang. “That’s why I need to work harder than everyone else.”
Grey Group draws a parallel with the number 30 between the two women: Chiling who has taken on 30 different roles in her life and Granny Huang who has walked on 30 catwalk runways. Click here to watch them share the runway.
The other film screens Victoria Song and Alu who are both nine this year. Alu had no formal background in dancing until she saw Song’s music video. She then spent nine years learning hip-hop, jumping from the streets of Chengdu to finally appearing on the world stage.
Even though most people’s passion for dancing wane when they age, Alu still dances to the beat of her own drums, chasing her dream against all the odds to be a world-class hip hop dancer.

Both films pivot to the message that the number that defines a woman is not her age but her fearless story.
Olay takes the campaign further by changing the “ages” of supporting celebrities on the online encyclopedia of China, Baidu, and replaced them with a number that represents a feat in their lives.
