KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA — Wanting to do good for balls everywhere, The Chariot Agency has taken a ballsy approach to tackling testicular cancer with The Balls Towel Initiative.

While the more “high-profile” cancer types, breast and lung cancer, for example, receive significant support in raising awareness, testicular cancer does not get the same or even enough attention despite being one of the more noticeable cancers that occur in males between 15 – 24 years of age here in Malaysia. The Chariot Agency wanted to remedy this.
It all started with a funny observation that kept popping up on social media; do men wipe their faces with the same towel they wipe their balls with? This in turn led the team to the simple truth which was, men have quick showers which include an even quicker wipe down too.

“Most guys are in and out of the shower in a blink. The last thing on their minds would be to give themselves a testicular self-examination let alone know the symptoms of testicular cancer to look out for,” said Jarrod Reginald, Executive Creative Director at The Chariot Agency.

“What we wanted to do was to add a little humour on a rarely talked about subject. And we needed to do this by not disrupting a man’s daily routine but by being a part of it to create a lasting behavior change. The answer to us was a cleverly designed bath towel that serves as a reminder to check your cajones as often as you could,” he added.

“When it comes to cancer, early detection saves lives. The question is, are men doing the needful to get their cancers detected early? This campaign by The Chariot Agency is tongue in cheek, lively and fun – just what we need to create a buzz to raise awareness on cancer. Although November is the month dedicated for men’s health awareness, this message needs to reach out to all men 365 days in a year. Cancer doesn’t sleep, so we shouldn’t, either,” said Dr. Murallitharan M., managing director of National Cancer Society Malaysia.

Encouraging not only men to get The Balls Towel for themselves, the 100% pure cotton, soft-to-the-touch bath towel comes in a handy Balls Towel Box which includes a nifty waterproof-hang-in-your-bathroom-how-to-check-guide – making it the perfect gift for anyone to get for the men in their lives.

Part of the proceeds from The Balls Towel will be channeled to help with the efforts carried out by NCSM. The National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM), is the first not-for-profit cancer organisation in Malaysia that provides education, care, and support services for people affected by cancer and the general public.
