Campaign Spotlight: Jia Zhangke and TBWAMedia Arts capture flavours of home this Chinese New Year with ‘The Bucket’

SINGAPORE – Apple launches a 7-minute ad for Chinese New Year entitled, The Bucket. The whole spot, which captured the unforgettable flavors of home, was shot using only iPhone XS and was directed by renowned Chinese director and screenwriter Jia Zhangke.
 
Created in partnership with TBWA\Media Arts Lab Shanghai, The Bucket features a young man who was going back to the city after a Chinese New Year visit to his mother in rural China. His mother has given him a bucket of goods to take back to his apartment.

The campaign can be seen on Apple’s YouTube channel, Weibo, WeChat, YouKu, and Douyin.
 
Apple also presented two behind-the-scenes that includes how Zhangke captured special moments of the film with iPhone XS’ key features, Slo-mo and Depth Control.

Last year, Apple has released the ‘Three Minutes’ film which was also shot using an iPhone – an iPhone X – and directed by Hong Kong filmmaker Peter Chan.
