LONDON, UK — Leading global retail bank, payments, and shopping service Klarna announced the launch of its new campaign with Visa, as an official sponsor of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022, to promote the Klarna card. From July 03, the campaign will appear around iconic football sites including Wembley and Old Trafford, and will feature four Team Visa athletes who are changing the game on and off the pitch: English superstars Lucy Bronze and Frank Kirby, Dutch forward Shanice van de Sanden and Swedish striker Kosovare Asllani.
Much like women in football, Klarna and Visa are challenging the traditional norms, and changing the game of online shopping. The Klarna card, powered by Visa, is a new type of sustainable credit that plays differently to traditional credit cards. It allows consumers to ‘pay like a pro’ giving them flexibility to pay now or up to 30 days later, online or in-store with no interest or late fees. The Klarna card is striving to change the game, and show that a card doesn’t always have to charge interest.
Running for the duration of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022, the campaign shows another side of the athletes. The campaign allows the Team Visa athletes to not only shine on the pitch but the opportunity to shine off it, showcasing their own personal style and bringing them into Klarna’s world of high-touch fashion.
David Sandström, Chief Marketing Officer at Klarna said, “Since launching in January, the Klarna card has been a huge success with over 170,000 UK Consumers using the card. The Klarna card empowers consumers with greater control, transparency and choice over how they pay — giving them the flexibility to pay later for purchases everywhere, without the risks of interest and revolving credit.
“We are delighted to partner with Visa and their athletes to ‘Play by new rules’ bringing together Visa’s commitment to women’s football and Klarna’s distinctive visuals and creative flair. Incorporating the worlds of two such recognisable and trusted brands has been exciting, and we hope this campaign will help increase awareness of women’s football and the Klarna card against the backdrop of what will be a festival of football in England this summer.”
Adrian Farina, Chief Marketing Officer, Europe, at Visa said “We are delighted to partner with Klarna for this campaign across the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022. The campaign offers a great opportunity to spotlight the creativity, independence and excellence within the women’s game and we’re proud to have four special Team Visa athletes bring the concept to life.”
