LONDON, UK — Two-times Wimbledon Championship winner, Andy Murray, is the latest celebrity to join Mandarin Oriental’s acclaimed Fan campaign, which in the past 21 years has featured over a hundred highly renowned individuals, including Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Dev Patel and Darcey Bussell.
Andy Murray is returning to Wimbledon after a five-year break, so the timing for his Mandarin Oriental launch could not be any better. The ads featuring photography by Mary McCartney will appear in key national press titles to coincide with the start of the Championship as well as a video in social media.
The campaign also marks Mandarin Oriental’s return to advertising after an 18-month inter-regnum due to Covid-19 and represents confidence that international travel is returning.
Jill Kluge, Chief Marketing Officer, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, said “We are delighted to welcome Andy Murray as our latest fan and to wish him good luck as he returns to the scene of his most famous victories, Wimbledon, where he always lifted the spirit of the nation.”
The highly-awarded campaign was conceived in 1998 by the Founders of LONDON Advertising, Michael Moszynski and Alan Jarvie, who along with their client, Jill Kluge, have been responsible for what is one of the longest-running and most successful global ad campaigns ever.
Michael Moszynski, CEO LONDON Advertising, said “Andy Murray personifies the qualities of our client, Mandarin Oriental. They are both at the top of their game and recognised for their great service. Andy and his team were a complete delight to work with. We are all fans.”
