MANILA – For what is traditionally known as a month of love, Jollibee is exploring different kinds of love, not just the romantic kind. In the latest installment of the highly successful “Kwentong Jollibee” series, McCann Worldgroup Philippines presents three films with different takes on finding love and getting love from unexpected sources.

adobo already explored ‘Homecoming’ the follow-up to last year’s ‘Crush,’ at this link. In ‘Signs,’ the perpetual search for signs that will point someone to the person meant for them is tackled. College student Star and her barkada are hanging out in a Jollibee branch as she bares that if the right guy for her comes along, she’ll know through a series of signs. When those signs manifest themselves, Star thinks that her Chemistry classmate, Mark, might just be the right guy.

However, while entering a Jollibee branch, Star is shocked to find out that Mark already has a girlfriend named Stacey. As she wallows in sadness while eating some Jolly Spaghetti and leaves a stain on her shirt, she’s comforted by her friend Joms who tries to cheer her up with a corny joke. That’s when Star sees a strand of spaghetti shaped like a heart and recalls that Joms has been there all along while she failed to notice him. A cover version of Raymond Lauchengco’s 80s classic “So It’s You” then plays as Star remembers the different moments where she failed to pay attention to the signs regarding Joms.

The ad ends with the couple having some Jolly Spaghetti as the words, “Naligaw ka man sa signs, true love will find you,” are flashed.

In the third ad of the Kwentong Jollibee 2018 Valentine Series called ‘Status,’ Kat Pascual is posting on social media that “I’ve found true love,” while she recalls her many attempts at dating. Even as her friends congratulate her on her social media post, Kat laments several failed dates due to guys having other girlfriends, not wanting to be in a serious relationship, not seeing a future with Kat, or wanting to date other people.

Kat notes that she’s heard all kinds of advice already, particularly from her family. Even as her mom says that there’s nothing wrong with her, her kid brother chalks it up to bad timing, or her dad tells her not to cry over a guy, she finally breaks down in tears when her older sister visits Kat in her room. That’s when Kat realizes that she’s been looking for love in all the wrong places.

She recalls her dad cleaning her car for her, her mom tries to cheer her up while they’re doing the dishes together, her brother bothering her helps her take her mind off the heartbreak, and a spa session with her sister while munching on Jollibee fries gets them both giggling. Kat notes that even though she doesn’t have a love life, love was never in her life thanks to her family. They gather at a Jollibee branch over her favorite Chickenjoy as Kat says that she’s finally found true love in the people that love her no matter who she is.

As Kat heads out of Jollibee, a man opens the door for her and looks back at Kat as she moves forward with a smile on her face as she now knows the love she truly deserves. This ad ends with the words, “Kahit walang love life, may love ka sa life. Family love is true love.”

All three ads for the Kwentong Jollibee 2018 Valentine Series close with six simple words: “Believe in the power of love.” It’s a simple yet powerful message that the company wants to convey, whether one is in love or not, during this time of year. It also reinforces Jollibee’s relationship with the Filipino audience as it celebrates 40 years of bringing joy (and love) to the world.
