Singapore, 24 January 2019 – The MeshMinds2.0: ArtxTechforGood exhibition will return from 7 to 17 March 2019 at ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands, to cast a spotlight on sustainability issues through immersive multi-sensory experiences that blend the real and virtual worlds. This is the second year that the exhibition is held at ArtScience Museum as part of the museum’s pillar programme, ArtScience in Focus, a cross-disciplinary showcase featuring collaborations with education, art, science and technology partners.

Organised by The MeshMinds Foundation to showcase how art and technology can be leveraged for positive social impact, the second edition of ArtxTechforGood invites visitors to be part in the growing conversation on sustainability. From augmented and virtual reality technologies, 3D printing, artificial intelligence, to the Internet of Things, MeshMinds 2.0: ArtxTechforGood harnesses cutting-edge creative technologies to tackle some of today’s pressing issues and challenges. Each installation endeavours to address the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals – allowing visitors to have a deeper understanding of the complex global challenges faced in a rapidly developing world today.

Ms Kay Vasey, founder of The MeshMinds Foundation, said: “With MeshMinds 2.0: ArtxTechforGood, we hope to build on the success of the first edition by connecting artists with socially responsible companies to present artworks and experiences focused on the sustainable development of our people and environment. Through their support, this has allowed the artists to put forth their best works, and be recognised on an international stage. Together, we want to challenge ourselves to expand on the social good that can be created when we bring art and technology together, while nurturing the next generation of impact artists”.

One of the artists who has gone on from the inaugural edition to create greater environmental impact internationally is André Wee. He has taken up a residency at The Tech Museum of Innovation in the Silicon Valley, USA – an opportunity made possible with his successful showing at MeshMinds 1.0. Initially working remotely with the team in San Jose and Austria, André will leverage an AI creation engine, Animaker, to allow visitors to harness interactive learning focused on the many endangered wildlife species in Asia. This showcase will premiere at ArtScience Museum, for this coming edition of ArtxTechforGood, before travelling to The Tech Museum.

As a prelude to the exhibition, MeshMinds 1.0 alumni, leading virtual reality animators Warrior9 VR, were invited to show their immersive experience Oceans We Make at the United Nation’s Third Forum of Ministers and Environment Authorities of Asia Pacific from 23-25 January. Oceans We Make and their upcoming augmented reality experience, Our Ocean Floor, highlight the pressing problem of marine pollution by inviting visitors to clean up the virtual majestic ocean.

MeshMinds 2.0: ArtxTechforGood will take place from 7 to 17 March 2019 at ArtScience Museum from 10am to 7pm (last admission at 6pm). Please refer to Annex A for information on André Wee. For more information, please visit http://www.meshminds.com/.
