BANGKOK, THAILAND — E-waste is the world’s fastest growing waste, with over 50 million metric tons accumulated, just from recent years. Every time we buy a new gadget, the old one automatically turns into a second-hand device. In light of this, creative agency CJ Worx created the “Swopbox” in an effort to make the value and use for electronics last as long as they once did.
Swopbox is a specially-made parcel to be used repeatedly for tech gadgets, which aims to help reduce e-waste. To strengthen the campaign’s efforts, CJ Worx collaborated with Swopmart, an online marketplace for second-hand gadgets desiring to help extend the lifespan of electronic goods.
With Swopbox, customers who bought a new gadget from any ecommerce platform can turn the box inside out, and put their pre-loved device inside to be sent back to Swopmart for reselling.
The project strengthens the belief that the best way to reduce e-waste is to prolong the gadget’s lifetime.
