Solidarité Sida is back on the campaign trail. In the newspapers, on social media, and even in public transport, we have already highlighted moments of a personal victory for the current French President, as well as legendary French war-hero Général de Gaulle.  And now we are turning to Donald Trump to provide an inspirational message. The result is amazing. There is no doubt that this new initiative will create a buzz on social media.

The future of the fight against AIDS will be decided on October 10th in Lyon (France). It is on this day that Heads of State and Government will announce how much they are giving to the Global Fund for the fight against AIDS, TB and Malaria. If significant enough commitments are made, then there is a chance of stopping new cases of HIV within ten years and of achieving a world without AIDS for our children and grandchildren. However, so far, those commitments have not been made. For those living with HIV today and for those who may become HIV positive tomorrow, not enough has yet been done and they have not had their say.

This is why Solidarité Sida (which translates to AIDS Solidarity) has decided to take action to inform the general public and question the leadership of the two biggest Global Fund donors, France and the USA. How? By sharing a fake news story, which with any luck, might just become real.

Solidarité Sida has worked with the design agency la chose to create the first commercial campaign using Deep Fake video, featuring a larger-than-life US President Donald Trump announcing the end of the AIDS epidemic.

Fake news, or real life? The answer will be known on October 10th: a day of reckoning in the global fight against AIDS, and the future of 16 million lives.
