Campaign Spotlight: Union Bank of the Philippines invites people to ‘Take a Tour of Hassle Banking’

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Union Bank of the Philippines brings Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy to life in its newest film, “Heaven,” in an effort to make Filipinos see the light and help them bank differently.

Now up on UB’s YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, the film is a follow-up to last year’s big brand relaunch video that saw Filipinos throwing papers in the air and flipping tables as they released extreme joy in finally discovering a different way to bank with UnionBank.

With “Heaven,” Virgil takes Dante and the viewers on a tour to see those who still choose to suffer with traditional banking. Director Marius Talampas captures the hassles that a lot of Filipinos experience in tongue-in-cheek, parodic humor. The film’s story is set in a world of traditional banking, which is brought to life by production designer Whammy Alcazaren.

FCB Manila’s Chief Executive Officer Lizette Santos adds, “We realized that there are some banking pains and hassles that we just accept for fact. It turns out, these pains are self-inflicted because we discover that there’s a better way to bank.”

On the creation of the story, Creative Director Rab Evangelista puts it simply: “Inspiration can come from anywhere, even from hell.”
