MANILA, PHILIPPINES — McDonald’s is bringing its global mobile app to the Philippines in partnership with agency Wunderman Thompson. The app is the first of its kind to give Filipinos a convenient way to collect and claim McDonald’s coupons.
“More and more Filipinos are immersed in the digital space, with mobile phones as the main device. With convenience and ease in mind, the launch of the new McDonald’s App is our way of adapting to their digital and always-on lifestyle,” shared Christina Lao, Marketing Director of McDonald’s Philippines.
The launch of the new McDonald’s app further strengthens the brand’s position on innovation leadership. McDonald’s evolution to adapt technology to enhance customer experience was highly evident with the launch of its NXTGEN stores. Strategic partnerships were also formed with Grab and Food Panda to reach more customers, and cashless payments were rolled out for an ultimate seamless experience. And with a promise of great things to come, McDonald’s welcomes 2020 with the McDonald’s App—its new loyalty app where customers can enjoy perks and discounts from the convenience of their mobile phone.
The campaign, “Crave It. Click It. Claim It.” focused on the high-tech ease of use of the McDonald’s app. The video “Tips ni Mama” shows a mother and son duo preparing for the latter’s move to the city. The son shows his mother that he’s prepared everything he might need all on his phone— from a map, to his family photos, and even entertainment apps. As the duo visits McDonald’s for breakfast before the son’s journey to the city, the mother shows him that there’s no need for printed discount coupons anymore because of the new McDonald’s App, which gives them big discounts in just a click! Aside from exclusive discounts for McDonald’s items, the new app also makes it more convenient for customers to find the nearest McDonald’s store with the Store Locator, or book their next celebration through the McDo Party website.
“Customers remain to be at the center of everything we do in McDonald’s. We continue to find ways to serve them better and give them a seamless customer experience— from the launch of our NXTGEN stores to this: the availability of discount coupons all from the convenience of one’s phone,” added Margot Torres, Managing Director of McDonald’s Philippines. “The explosive combination of Wunderman Thompson’s creativity, data, and technology helped make this possible. Starting off with this new video collaboration, McDonald’s together with Wunderman Thompson, will continue to find ways to give our customers feel good moments.”
“Wunderman Thompson’s task was to keep things delightful and uncomplicated, and it is made more exciting by working with a brand with the same passion for creativity. This is the space where digital innovation, storytelling, and the brand’s vision intersect. It took a lot of work, but we’re all happy and proud with the result,” said Golda Roldan, CEO of Wunderman Thompson Philippines.
The creative, data, and technology agency made waves in 2019 coming from the announcement of the merger of J. Walter Thompson, the first multinational advertising agency in the world and in the Philippines, with digital network Wunderman.
The new McDonald’s App is available for download on the App Store or Google Play Store. Follow McDonald’s on Facebook for more updates.
