MUMBAI – Tripstr, the latest innovation by DDB Mudra Group for Broken Compass is a Google Chrome extension that helps one fly to any picture on Flickr and Instagram. Until now, travelers across the world have been visiting destinations that have been explored before as the present interfaces of travel bookings function by only searching for flights to a user’s pre-decided destination. Tripstr attempts to break this conventional way of travelling by altering the interface itself and all this for free.

Getting Tripstr is simple; the user needs to just download it from the Google Chrome Store. Once installed, it asks for the user’s expected dates for departure & arrival and the city of departure. Then, it turns any geotagged image on Flickr and Instagram into a potential flight search.

It does this by simply finding the location of the image, and then searching for the nearest airports. The user can then directly book flights, or just add the place to their watchlist and set a price alert to take advantage of price drops. They could also contact Broken Compass to request an itinerary to their location of interest.

Tripstr can turn the internet into a huge window display for travel. And can help people discover new destinations and finalise bookings – all through user-generated content.

“Tripstr is the kind of work you will not expect an ad agency to do and that’s what I’m really proud of,” Sonal Dabral, Chairman and CCO, DDB Mudra Group said. “It’s a testimony to the kind of talent we now have at DDB Mudra Group and where we are heading. A place full of passionate, energetic, out-of-the-box thinkers who are not content at making ads, but are everyday using their creativity to solve our clients’ business problems. Whatever shape or form the solution takes.”

“Tripstr stands testimony to the fact that the solutions for our clients’ business can, or should, no longer be limited to communication,” Rahul Mathew, Creative Head, DDB Mudra West said. “Broken Compass talks to a mindset and through this Google Chrome Extension we put them in touch with people of this mindset, at the time they are in that mindset.”
