LONDON – LONDON Advertising, in collaboration with the Godfather of Pop Art, Sir Peter Blake, has created one of the world’s largest-ever art installations for its client Mandarin Oriental.
The artwork, which was installed overnight and unveiled today, is the size of 38 double decker buses and will cover the entire façade of Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park, London. It is part of our iconic ‘Fan’ campaign for the brand, which has run for 18 years and has featured the likes of Dame Helen Mirren, I.M. Pei and Morgan Freeman.
Sir Peter, who designed the cover ’50 years ago today’ for The Beatles album Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, has incorporated 100 ‘fans’ of the luxury hotel including: Annie Lennox, Dame Maggie Smith, Martin Sheen, Gary Barlow, Barry Humphries, Sigourney Weaver, Bryan Ferry and, fittingly, the two Beatles, Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
Alan Jarvie, Creative Director of LONDON, who first conceived the ‘Fan’ campaign 18 years ago said: “It’s rare to have the opportunity to work for such a fantastic brand, with such a fantastic artist, on such a fantastic scale. We hope we’ve done the opportunity justice.”
