If you are one of those people who hate seeing your most hated political candidates’ mugs on your way to work or school, we have good news for you. Starting this March, transit ad operators were asked to take down the big bus ads like those of Gibo Teodoro, Noynoy Aquino, Juan Ponce Enrile and Bongbong Marcos because they violate aspects of the Fair Election Act.
According to Comelec Commissioner Nicodemo Ferrer, these transit ads should not obstruct the drivers’ view. Although the Fair Election Act is "not very definite" when it comes to transit ads, Comelec has imposed a regulated transit size of 2×3 feet for a single display.
For private cars who choose to display political paraphernalia, they’re covered by the right to private ownership. But if they display it for a fee, they will still be covered by the Fair Election Act. So that means no car wrap for those who want to earn money by displaying their favorite candidates on their vehicles
So the faces of Gibo and Enrile on the backs of buses have been put down. The bad news is, politicians will always find a way around this ruling. So they’ve gone inside the bus and put their names and faces on the headrests in front of you. There’s really no escaping politicians’ ads these next few months
