SWITZERLAND – Every dog parent is probably drooling over the XTrail 4Dogs concept that Nissan recently unveiled. Who wouldn’t? This car concept is made especially not just for the comfort of the human members of the family but also the furry ones.

Nissan released the concept following a study of more than 1,300 dog owners conducted by The Kennel Club, a UK-based organization that promotes canine health and welfare. The findings revealed that 99.9% or almost all dog owners consider their pet as part of the family and that a similar number of owners use their car to transport their dogs and would buy a car that boasts of dog-friendly features.

“It’s clear from the research that for dog owners, dogs are a key part of the family,” said Ryan Gains, chief marketing manager, X-Trail. ” Ensuring their pet’s needs are catered for is often just as important as making sure the children are comfortable and happy. The Nissan X-Trail is a car that’s built for family adventures, and the X-Trail 4Dogs concept takes that to the next level.”

The flagship crossover has been redesigned with a spacious cargo area upholstered in premium wipe-clean leather that has a small bed, a no-spill water bowl, and a smart treat dispenser. It’s also equipped with a 360-degree shower and a dryer conveniently stored in pull-out drawers in case your pet gets a little rough and dirty. Additional drawers are also available to store waste bags, food, and treats.

To ensure the safety of the pups, the compartment also has a clip-on harness hook and a “dog cam” technology that lets the owner check on the dogs through the seven-inch dashboard display, and the dog to check on its owner through a 10-inch LED screen installed in the cargo area.

Unfortunately, the Nissan XTrail 4Dogs concept is not actually for sale but at least dog owners now have an idea on what they can do with their crossovers.
