MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Cinephiles’ sought-after accessories just got elevated. Accessories for cinema enthusiasts just got elevated as QCinema International Film Festival announces its collaboration with artist Dexter Fernandez for its 11th edition. Creeping its way to cinemas and into every cinephile’s movie-watching arsenal is iconic street art Garapata

Other merchandise will also be available for festival-goers who can present five used QCinema tickets. These can be exchanged at the QCinema booths in the cinema lobbies.

QCinema is from November 17 to 26, 2023. The venues are Gateway Mall, UP Town Center, Robinsons Magnolia, Shangri-la Plaza, and Power Plant Mall.

Born out of a childhood experience with ticks or garapata in the local language, the artist’s dream is to infest different places with his art. This is his first partnership with a film industry player in the country.

According to Dexter Fernandez, “Garapata is a whimsical representation of social psycho-delic landscape that observes the intertwined experiences of human behavior influenced by the other with the bizarre context in which it occurs. In other words; a socio-political mind-trip.”
