Jayson Atienza – DIESEL Campaign
Atienza was born in Batangas, Philippines and eventually moved to New Jersey when he was a kid. He started drawing at 5 and immediately found the importance of communicating with visual language.
He spent almost two decades in New York as an ad-man; with the first decade spent in BBDO New York and seven years freelance working with the likes of GAP, Heineken, Red Bull, Givenchy, Guinness, HBO, FedEx, Canon, Pepsi, The Financial Times and Havaianas before becoming the Creative Director of Nike Shanghai.
Jayson Atienza – Nike Kicks Lounge Mural
To celebrate the opening of the new Nike Kicks Lounge retail store in Chengdu, Jayson has created an expansive mural spanning the length of the brick-faced fitting rooms. The mural depicts Chengdu’s famous bamboo forests, celebrating the majesty of the city’s natural landscape. Within his design, Jayson has incorporated three of Nike’s iconic sneaker silhouettes including the Air Force 1, Air Jordan 1, and Air Max 1. When the sneaker shapes are reflected in the fitting room mirror, a charming panda appears. There’s no debating this is Chengdu’s biggest sneaker head!
Jayson Atienza was invited by Nike to create five T-shirt designs in his signature style that represent Chengdu icons and sneaker culture. These T-shirt designs are a continuation of his mural work in the Nike Kicks Lounge Chengdu store. These T-shirt designs resonate with young consumers in Chengdu who care about local culture and streetwear. Jayson’s five iconic designs are: 1)Panda Sneakerhead 2)Airmax Teapot Chengdu Skyline 3)Bamboo Forest Swoosh 4)Air Pandas 5)Big Air Panda Skateboarder
