About YAKUSHIMA TREASURE ANOTHER LIVE from YAKUSHIMA
The concert stems from a collaboration with YAKUSHIMA TREASURE, which is a project by KOM_I and Oorutaichi, as well as filmmaker Koichiro Tsujikawa, to provide a new kind of live performance experience on-screen unlike that you would view with the naked eye or live concert footage as we have come to know it.
In the winter of 2020, this project took on the challenge of staging and recording a concert in 360-degree surround sound in the banyan forests of Yakushima in one take. By using state of the art technology to collect and reconstruct spatial data and sound image data from the site, we have created an interactive live experience that allows viewers to get so close to the artists, the distance between them disappears. Viewers can move up, down, and laterally anywhere in the forest, and enjoy the live performance from any perspective, transcending physical constraints.
This work had been available online as paid content for a limited time from February 11 to March 31, 2021, but in commemoration of winning the Bronze Prize in the Digital Craft category at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the world’s largest advertising and creative festival, it will be made available for free on the official website from Thursday, July 1, 2021.

What is YAKUSHIMA TREASURE?
YAKUSHIMA TREASURE is a project of KOM_I and OORUTAICHI. It started as a collaboration project between Wednesday Campanella and Yakushima island, known as a World Natural Heritage Site, along with Oorutaichi as a music producer.
A variety of songs have been created from sounds collected in many different ways, for example, by listening carefully for the heartbeat of frogs, the drumming of rain falling on trees, wind blowing around a quay, or the roar of waves, and by singing together with old ladies living on the island.
KOM_I was born in 1992 in Kanagawa and began singing after being scouted at a
home party. As vocal for “Wednesday Campanella”, she has toured and performed
at musical festivals globally, creating live performances that resonate with the land
and its people.
Her favorite food is South Indian, her hobbies are observing rituals around the world,
and learning to sing and dance.
Besides music, she is active in many genres including modeling and acting.
Originally from Nara, OORUTAICHI began recording and performing in 1999, inspired by The Residents, The Doors, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Aphex Twin and dancehall reggae. Establishing his own form of ‘drifting folklore music’ combining elements of electronic sounds, folk, pop, and with an invented language, he has toured both domestically and internationally. Aside from his solo career, he’s the founding member of the band Urichipangoon, and has also recently started a project with Taro Ishida making the song for “GAGAKU” that is Japanese traditional music. okimirecords.com
