Cambridge, UK, – Amino, the global media and entertainment technology solutions provider, has announced a collaboration with the leading app-based Pay TV video streaming platform, MOBITV. The solution will be commercially available in Q4, 2019.
App-based solutions are increasingly becoming a more viable and cost-effective route to launching next-generation video services. MOBITV CONNECT is such a solution that delivers enormous value to operators through a full end-to-end platform and simplifies the cost and internal support structure of operators by addressing today’s complex video environments. The joint Amino and MOBITV-powered service addresses both operator and consumer demand for alternative video delivery solutions and allows subscribers to enjoy a wide selection of streaming content services.
By upcycling deployed devices with the latest version of AminoOS Enable, operators can cost-effectively adapt to market demand for services that deliver linear channels and streaming content to multiple screens in the home or on the go. Amino’s streamlined upcycling process leverages a proven professional services methodology to centrally manage the updating of device software on distributed legacy devices. AminoOS Engage also provides ongoing device management and enhances customer service and support. Amino OS works with the MobiTV SaaS platform to transform these deployed assets into another part of the multiscreen ecosystem.
“We are excited to partner with MOBITV and give our operator customers new options for expanding their video service offerings using existing devices to deliver the enhanced service offerings subscribers expect,” said Amino CEO Donald McGarva. “By enabling operators to offer exciting next generation services such as MobiTV with a relatively modest additional investment, we’re extending the life of installed devices: a highly significant CAPEX benefit.”
“We continue to focus on giving operators new options for delivering video services through whichever device they choose,” said Bill Routt, COO and President, MOBITV “Our partnership with Amino expands our approach, recognizing that both operators and subscribers need video services that bring the best of both legacy linear and OTT streaming.”

Drawing on more than 20 years’ experience delivering IP/cloud innovation, Amino enables operators to meet the challenges they face as broadcast TV and online video moves to an all-IP future with managed over-the-top (OTT) offerings. We are expert in software, hardware and cloud implementation – able to deploy our own leading-edge technologies and integrate these with third-party and ‘upcycled’ legacy systems. At the forefront of the evolution of TV Everywhere, Amino helps operators to provide the features and functionality modern consumers are looking for in a multiscreen, multi-device entertainment world.
Having deployed over 10 million customer premise devices and the software necessary to link the back end to the user interface, we understand the issues operators face. We partner with operators to deliver end-to-end, operator-ready solutions that enable next-generation customer experiences. We ‘upcycle’ existing infrastructure to support more advanced services and integrate seamlessly with new technologies to form a unified ecosystem. The result is a fresh consumer offering based on a consistent user experience across all screens, building brand reputation, stemming churn, growing subscribers and increasing average revenue per user (ARPU).
