Cannes Lions 2017: McCann New York’s ‘Fearless Girl’ wins another Grand Prix along with Twitter at the Outdoor Lions

CANNES — McCann New York and State Street Global Advisors won yet another Grand Prix for this year’s Outdoor Lions. Twitter also won a Grand Prix campaign for its hashtag-inspired outdoor ad series. 

McCann New York and State Street Global Advisors made waves during this year’s International Women’s Day for their outdoor ‘Fearless Girl’ statue which stared down Wall Street’s ‘Charging Bull’ in a defiant stand for women participation in top executive positions. Twitter also gained the highest prize for its series of outdoor ads showing real photos and icons of famous hashtag/trending topics like Muhammad Ali, Putin, Prince, and Hillary Clinton & Donald Trump.

There were also 20 Gold Lions given away, which included Heinz’s Steak, Burger, and Fries series first “pitched” by fictional Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce advertising agency from the Mad Men Netflix series and brought to life by DAVID. Silver Lion winners totalled 29, while 58 Bronze Lions were awarded.
