Digital: Facebook sees surge in desktop use, rolls out Messenger for Windows and Mac, let’s be #TogetheratHome

Menlo Park, California – On April 2, 2020 Facebook rolled out their Messenger app for MacOS and Windows. Over the past month, the social media company saw more than a 100% increase in people using their desktop browser for audio and video calling on Messenger. Stan Chudnovsky, VP of Facebook Messenger wrote upon launching the app, “Now more than ever, people are using technology to stay in touch with the people they care about, even when physically apart.”

Facebook Messenger for desktop keeps all the features found in browser and mobile versions, including unlimited and free group video calls. In addition they’ve improved video and conferences capabilities, auto sync your chats and personalization settings, as well as ‘Dark Mode’ and GIFs.
