MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The search for the next beauty queen has officially begun! This time, bringing the race much closer to high-heeled contenders vying for the Miss Universe PH throne. Kumu, the country’s largest social entertainment platform, and Miss Universe PH (MUPh) will join forces this 2022 to usher the pageant community into a new era—its most interactive yet. As MUPh’s official online entertainment platform, kumu will integrate live streaming into the pageant experience.
Every year without fail, Filipinos all over the world huddle together to watch the glitz and glamour of the Miss Universe competition, if not from the comfort of their couches, then as part of the cheering, flag-bearing audience inside jam-packed stadiums. We have much to take pride in given that so far four Filipinas have taken home the sparkling Miss Universe crown: from Gloria Diaz, the country’s first-ever Miss Universe in 1969, Margie Moran in 1973, Pia Wurtzbach in 2015, and Catriona Gray in 2018.
Aspiring queens and fans alike look up to these women who have brought pride and honor to the country through their beauty and advocacy. kumu wants to empower the pageant community even further with a platform to connect and have fun, let queens and queens-to-be share personal advice, and even dish out beauty secrets. It’s a safe space where the women and their fans in the kumunity can take their engagements to the next level with care and positivity.
Delegates will be given fun live streaming tasks to showcase their charming personalities while devoted fans can campaign for a chance to perform in the MUPh preliminaries, even co-host community shows on the platform. Moreover, the community can expect interactive Kumuniverse Exclusive shows which will be a daily and weekly kumustahan segment with the reigning queens and delegates as they make their journey to the crown.
During the virtual signing on the platform, MUPh National Director and Miss Universe 2011 3rd runner-up Shamcey Supsup said, “Words are very powerful. We are urging our fans to be more mindful of their remarks online. That’s why we are very excited with our partnership with kumu, because I know the people behind the app want to create a platform that is a safe space for everyone.”
Kumu CEO and Founder Roland Ros echoed this sentiment stating the platform’s mission of fostering authentic connection and community that’s founded on values of safety, positivity, and acceptance. He ends it on an optimistic note by saying, “I am excited to see how we can work to build a beautiful experience together.”
