MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The highly-anticipated beauty pageant partnered with kumu to connect and introduce the candidates to their audience. Forty-eight gorgeous contestants compete for the crown, while also sharing their personal journeys to excited supporters on the app.
Last September, the contestants had their kumu debut on kumustahan, as they had their livestreamed meet-and-greet sessions with audiences. The sessions were done in eight batches, and streamed every Wednesday and Fridays at 7pm, leading up to the grand coronation on October 25, 2020. Fans worldwide can watch the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Preliminaries (Question and Answer, National Costume, Swimsuit & Evening Gown) and the Grand Finale on Ring Light by subscribing to empire.ph.
More than just a glamorous event, the Miss Universe Philippines pageant at kumustahan gave us the chance to know more about the beautiful, empowered Filipinas in the competition. The livestreamed meet-and-greet event was the audience’s chance to ask questions regarding preparation, beauty routines, and personal motivations for the contestants.

Despite complications brought by the pandemic, kumu had enabled the Miss Universe pageant to continue operations, while also empowering contestants to increase support for their chosen beneficiaries.
“Each one of the girls are trying to support their own beneficiary, and they do have their own scheduled things to do with Miss Universe Philippines.” explains KC Montero, kumu Vice President of Content. “But on kumu, they can go and support their cause anytime of the day, 24 hours a day. So it’s really up to them!”
