MANILA – The McDonald’s Philippines mobile app has surpassed one million downloads, barely two months after its launch last September 12. The app, available for both Android and iOS, was designed and developed by specialist mobile agency Mobext.
“Reaching one million downloads is not just a feat for McDonald’s. It also speaks of the local market’s hunger for convenient mobile services, especially for food delivery,” says Arthur Policarpio, Head of Mobext Asia-Pacific.
At the core of the app is McDelivery, which brings the food chain’s delivery service to mobile.
“At McDonald’s, customer convenience has always been our priority. Our mobile app delivers on the promise of speed and convenience, being present on the device that Filipinos use 24/7,” said Margot Torres, Senior Vice President – Marketing of McDonald’s Philippines.
The McDoPh app also peaked at the #1 position in several app store categories for both iOS and Android, such as Food and Drink, Lifestyle, Top Free apps, and the overall Top Charts.
“For McDonald’s, what we’ve achieved is tantamount to putting a McDonald’s store inside 1 million pockets. This is just the start, as the country’s smartphone population will only grow bigger next year.” added Policarpio.
McDonald’s mobile marketing initiatives since 2013 have gained success, with both its Ang Pao Mobile Coupons and McDelivery Mobile Site winning awards at The Smarties by the Mobile Marketing Association.
