MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The successful 2015 remake of ABS-CBN‘s romantic drama series “Pangako Sa ‘Yo,” titled “La Promesa” captivated Ecuadorian audiences anew with its airing on free TV via TC Televisión, and helped push the network to lead in the ratings in Guayaquil, a key region in the ratings game in the said country. This is the second time that the Spanish-dubbed series has earned a license for a run on TC Televisión, which began last March 2021, following its first airing from April to August 2020.

“TC Televisión was very satisfied with the performance of both titles of this drama, we have viewers clamoring to see the episodes again on social media,” said Cesar Diaz from 7A Media, a company into international sales of audiovisual content for all television media and digital platforms.

The show was top-billed by the popular love team of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, playing lovers Yna and Angelo who defy the odds of their romance brought about by the turmoil between their families—filled with greedy ambitions and a thirst for revenge.

Aside from Ecuador, “La Promesa” also enjoyed viewership in other Latin American territories as it aired in Peru via Panamericana Televisión in 2016 and in one of the Dominican Republic’s largest TV stations, Color Visión in 2019. There is an upcoming adaptation as well in Mexico. It also proved to be a hit worldwide as it was sold 30 times to other media companies in 22 different countries.

Apart from “The Promise,” ABS-CBN shows “Destined Hearts” and “Bridges of Love” also showed in Ecuador, a testament to ABS-CBN’s continuous efforts to bring its exclusive content to international borders.

In 2020, ABS-CBN expanded its content distribution not just in Latin America but also in African and Asian territories, selling 16 titles, including “Brothers,” “The Heiress,” “The General’s Daughter,” and more. The Malaysian adaptation of “The Two of Us,” entitled “Angkara Cinta,” was the most-watched show on the Astro Prima channel, also in 2020.

ABS-CBN shows are available on television via the Kapamilya Channel, TV5, A2Z, and Jeepney TV across the Philippines and online via Kapamilya Online Live, which is streamed on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube and Facebook pages. Its shows and films are also available for streaming on iWantTFC and TFC, while some of its programs are streaming on Netflix, WeTV, and iFlix.

The company continues to syndicate its content through various streaming services and operate other businesses that do not require a legislative franchise, such as international licensing and distribution, digital, and cable TV.

It has been a premier source of high-quality Filipino programming in over 50 territories worldwide and has sold over 50,000 hours of content worldwide. Living up to this recognition, ABS-CBN International Distribution commits to add to its line-up of high-caliber programs and movies with cast and storylines that appeal to various cultures.
