Despite the rollercoaster of a year, the huge amount of great stories brought to Filipinos’ screens remained consistent and kept everyone company while they stayed at home. And from the impressive selection of shows and movies, viewers in the Philippines have definitely chosen their favorites.
To give you an idea of Filipinos’ most-streamed titles this past year, JustWatch, an international streaming guide with more than 20 million users across 84 countries, has released the top 10 movies and TV shows in the Philippines for 2021.
While movie buffs got to watch films of all genres this year, one glance at the list makes it apparent that thriller and action movies reigned streaming picks in the Philippines this year. Topping the list is DCEU’s lasso-wielding heroine with Wonder Woman 1984, followed closely by Tenet, Godzilla vs. Kong, and another DC blockbuster, Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Meanwhile, when it comes to the most streamed shows of 2021, it’s no surprise that Squid Game, a Korean series that became a cultural phenomenon seemingly overnight, landed on the number one spot. Other shows that viewers in the Philippines loved were Vincenzo, Girl from Nowhere, and True Beauty.
