Brand & Business: Evident launches eSports unit, formalizes their 2-year practice in the industry

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Philippine-based Integrated Marketing and PR firm Evident has announced the creation of a dedicated eSports unit, formalizing their two-year old practice area into a division of its own. The agency is optimistic about the accelerated growth of the industry, especially in the SEA region.

Previously, the award-winning firm offered three main practice areas – Corporate and Public Affairs, Digital Marketing, and Advocacy Communications.

“We saw the opportunity to leverage the growth of one of the fastest-growing industries regionally and globally. As gamers and esports enthusiasts ourselves, we wanted to become a pioneering communications firm that specialized in eSports marketing. We seek to create strong communities and fan bases that build love for the game, the team, and the brand,” shares Stephanie Balois-Guerrero, Chief Operating Officer and head of the Evident eSports unit.

In 2018, Evident first ventured into sports marketing by helping the Phoenix Fuel Masters basketball team build a strong fan base through online fan engagement. In the following year, Evident also supported Philippine National Ice Hockey Team through digital marketing content. Both campaigns were recognized by the Philippine Quill Awards.

Evident then made its foray into eSports in 2020, with professional Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team ONIC PH by growing their online presence and building a loyal fan base in preparation for Season 5 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL PH).
A content strategy was formulated to target the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang community, providing them with high-quality, relevant, and entertaining content in key platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. By capitalizing on each player’s personalities as well as effectively documenting the team to reflect their winning culture, ONIC PH now has one of the strongest online communities, active on platforms relevant to up and coming audiences.

This year, Evident once again supported the launch of the 7th Season of MPL PH – this time working with Mobile Legend: Bang Bang’s Shanghai-based publisher and international game developer, MOONTON Games. Evident managed MOONTON’s official social media pages including Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok by producing both static and video content. This resulted in increased engagement with the fans and more views for the MPL PH livestreams.
