MANILA, PHILIPPINES — All roads lead to Shooting Gallery, Makati City, as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Philippines holds its first-ever offline playoffs for MDL Philippines Season 3 and MWI: Road to Finals 2024. Bringing fans closer to their favorite teams and pushing for the advancement of MLBB esports in the country, the much-anticipated matches will be held from May 10 to 12 at Shooting Gallery Studios, starting 4:00 pm.
Coming from the successful SILAB Qualifiers, the MWI: Road to Finals 2024 will serve as a platform to spotlight Filipino women players’ greatness and grit. The Grand Finals will be held on Sunday, 12 May 2024.
The participating teams are 2023 SEA Games Silver Medalist Smart Omega Empress, Franchise Team Qualifier winner TNCZ4 FE, and Open Qualifier top teams ONIC ZOL and Super Monching FE.
The winning team will represent the Philippines in the MWI 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with a prize pool worth USD 500,000, one of history’s largest prize pools for women’s tournaments.
“This is just the beginning of our path to make MLBB esports in the Philippines more inclusive. With MWI: Road to Finals 2024, we hope to encourage our aspiring young female athletes out there to follow their dreams and become professional players in MLBB,” said Baizhou Ning, MOONTON Games Head of Esports.
MDL Philippines Season 3 playoffs start from May 10 to 11 at 4 pm. The matches will feature six teams, namely RRQ Kaito, SMART Omega Neos, Blacklist Academy Rough Era, ONIC Arsenals, ECHO Proud, and TNC Z4. They will vie for the championship title and the biggest share from its prize pool worth USD 20,000 or more than PHP 1 million.
The competition has become tougher with the implementation of the Global Ban system, which allows teams to use a particular hero during the series at one time only. Once a hero has been played by a team, it becomes unavailable for that team for the remainder of the series. However, if they haven’t used it, the opposing team can still choose to pick and use that hero.
Recognizing the talent and hard work of the young broadcast talents of MDL PH, the league will once again bestow the Best Talent award to a caster or host, which Bridgitte “Brigida” Alexandra Ramos has received for two consecutive seasons already and is now part of the MPL Philippines caster pool.
Last season, ECHO Proud took home the title, which also led to the discovery of its amateur players, who are now part of the MPL Philippines.
On Sunday, the Lakbay Pasulong Showmatch will feature MDL Philippines and MWI: Road to Finals 2024 players to showcase sportsmanship through friendly games among male and female esports athletes. This will be followed by the MDL Philippines Grand Finals and MWI PH Grand Finals matches, respectively.
Those who wish to watch the matches can purchase tickets from slashevent.com, the official ticketing partner. All ticket holders are entitled to watch all three matches of the day. Those who will register on-site will receive in-game diamonds worth 100.
