MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Independent risograph art press and design studio Bad Student is set to represent the Filipino printmaking community in the land of the rising sun at Tokyo Art Book Fair 2022 on October 27 to 30.
Co-presented by adobo magazine, the Bad Student Takeoff is a medley of creative activities; attendees can look forward to an afternoon of creative and insightful workshops by its artists in residence, with an exhibit and print fair featuring original works. The event will take place this Saturday, October 15, at the Astbury in Poblacion, Makati.
The art studio recently hosted its first hybrid risograph workshop last month, with resident artists such as Pau Tiu, Raxenne Maniquiz, Toni Potenciano, and Gianne Encarnacion sharing reflective talks on their creative journeys and the intricate, imperfect process of printmaking.
Proceeds from the event will help fund Bad Student’s exhibition at the Tokyo Art Book Fair 2022, set to be held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo this October. This will be the second time the Philippines will be represented at the prestigious art fair.
With Bad Student’s endeavor backed by the Design Center of the Philippines, the send-off event is supported by Canva Philippines, along with an array of local concessionaires such as Tasteless Food Group, Poison Doughnuts, The Good Seoul, Monkey Eagle Brewery, Type A Coffee, Kodawari, Musha, and Hottu Doggu PH. Other partners include Through Habit and WIKO.
The event is free and open to the public. Want to attend? Register through this form.
