PATTAYA, THAILAND — With anticipation building for its Festival, ADFEST 2024 has revealed its full jury lineup, featuring three creative minds from the Philippines. The Festival, set to honor outstanding creativity and innovation in advertising, has attracted industry luminaries to evaluate the best works from Asia Pacific.
David Guerrero, Founder and Creative Chair of BBDO Guerrero, has been appointed as Jury President for the Film Lotus, Outdoor Lotus, Press Lotus, and Radio & Audio Lotus categories.
David recently marked BBDO Guerrero’s 25th anniversary. The agency stands as one of the most consistently awarded in the region, gaining acclaim for campaigns like the WARC Grand-Prix-winning “It’s more fun in the Philippines” global tourism initiative. Notably, the agency’s work for P&G’s Pantene addressing workplace gender-based inequality received recognition from UN Women and won the ADFEST Effectiveness Grand Prix. BBDO Guerrero’s latest achievement is the creation of the innovative zero-plastic shampoo bar, “The dissolving bottle,” now available through a pioneering partnership in the EU.
David’s career began in the UK, transitioning from accountancy to advertising. After stints in London and Hong Kong, he settled in the Philippines. David, a sought-after judge in global award shows, became the first South East Asian Jury President at Cannes.
Beyond advertising, David recently graduated from Harvard with an MLA in Creative Writing and Literature. His book on creativity, You have to go through a lot of crap to get to good ideas, sold out its first printing and earned a nomination for a 2024 National Book Award in the Philippines. He also presented a documentary titled When the Beatles didn’t meet Imelda for the BBC World Service in 2021.
Two other accomplished Philippine representatives, Dennis Perez and Sid Samodio, join David, who contribute their expertise to the esteemed juries.
Dennis, who is the Digital Marketing, Media, and Commerce Lead at Unilever Beauty & Wellbeing Southeast Asia, is set to lend his insights to the Brand Experience Lotus, Commerce Lotus, and Direct Lotus categories. Leading the charge into the future of beauty, Dennis implements influencer marketing, advanced analytics, and AI-powered “beauty tech” for next-gen beauty experiences. With a licensed Chemical Engineer background, he brings analytical precision to his marketing strategies, and as a film critic at heart, he weaves engaging stories into B&W campaigns and digital content.
Meanwhile, Sid, Executive Creative Director at McCann Worldgroup Philippines, will play a crucial role in evaluating entries in the Entertainment Lotus, Media Lotus, and PR Lotus categories. Boasting over 25 years of experience in the advertising industry, Sid has successfully handled brands for top clients, including Ayala Malls, BPI, Jollibee, Nestlé, and UNILAB. Sid also led the creative team behind the acclaimed Kwentong Jollibee web video series, garnering awards and recognition. Additionally, he has actively contributed to the advertising community through his involvement with the Creative Guild of the Philippines and leadership roles in organizing events like the Kidlat Awards and the Raw School for young creatives.
ADFEST not only raises the standard of creative excellence in the region but also celebrates the uniqueness of local culture. It is a learning hub for those in the communication industry through the showcasing of the region’s best creative works and inspiring content.
ADFEST 2024, under the theme “Human Intelligence,” will be held from March 21 to 23 at the Pattaya Exhibition And Convention Hall (PEACH), Royal Cliff Hotels Group, in Pattaya, Thailand.
