MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Don Papa Rum, premium single-island rum from the Philippines, recently concluded the 2024 edition of its signature event, the “Tres Papas.”
Over the course of three unforgettable evenings, some of the most talented bartenders in the industry have stepped behind the bar to craft cocktails that reimagined classic Filipino desserts or panghimagas.
“Our Tres Papas event is an exceptional vehicle to pay homage to the Filipino culture. For this particular series, it’s all about the Filipino desserts we grew up enjoying and we’re excited that we get to share these flavors to the world by working with extraordinary bartenders from truly world class bars,” said JoAnn Ramos, Don Papa Rum Philippines President and Asia Pacific Marketing and Commercial Head.
Tres Papas Panghimagas embarked on a flavorful journey, beginning at The Curator in Makati City on August 22. Don Papa Rum PH brand ambassador Audrey Gustilo joined forces with Dan Santos of The Curator and Trisha “Taco” Leong of Night Hawk Singapore for a memorable night at Manila’s top bar, which featured cocktails infused with flavors that are truly Pinoy-favorites such as halo-halo, mais con yelo, and yema.
The sweet celebration continued on at OTO in Poblacion on September 11 in collaboration with 28 HongKong Street, an Asia’s 50 best bar. The OTO bar takeover, dubbed “Tres Marias,” showcased the talents and creativity of three exceptional women mixologists – OTO’s Alex Javier, Don papa Rum’s Audrey Gustilo, and 28 HongKong Street’s Tamaryn Cooper. Among the favorites of the night were Alex Javier’s Maja Blanca created with Don Papa rum, corn, coconut, lime, and maja blanca mochi; Tamaryn Cooper’s Galactic Booze Cruise that infused banana, pandan, coconut, lemon and apple with milk and Don Papa Rum, and; Audrey Gustilo’s Easy As Pie created with Don Papa Masskara, peach and mango, with lime and milk clarified.
The sweet finale of Tres Papas took place on October 02 at The Grasshopper in Makati City. Guests enjoyed delectable cocktails crafted by Chok Han, head bartender of Elephant Room Singapore, and Jonathan Matienzo of The Grasshopper. The third night of the Tres Papas guest shifts saw familiar flavors such as the champorado, kalamay, buko pandan, and ube leche flan.
“Don Papa is extremely proud to hold Tres Papas here in our mother market, and soon in other parts of Asia Pacific. I am thrilled to see how Filipinos are very supportive of our brand,” shared JoAnn. “Expect to see more from Don Papa as we continue to expand our presence here and across the region.”
