Events: Cheil Hong Kong wins Regional Agency of the Year for APAC, HAKUHODO Inc. wins Best in Show at 2020 New York Festivals Advertising Awards

NEW YORK CITY – Not to be outdone by other agencies worldwide, the 2020 New York Festivals Advertising Awards also honored several agencies and campaigns from the Asia-Pacific region.

Cheil Hong Kong won the prestigious 2020 Regional Agency of the Year, given to the advertising agency that earned the highest scores for creative entries within the region. “Wow. To be ‘Regional Agency of the Year (APAC)’ for three years running is sweet. But beyond all of our expectations. We’re humbled. And very grateful. Congrats to everyone involved, including our rock-star teams, partners, and clients,” says Paul Chan, Chief Creative Officer, Cheil Hong Kong.

Underlining Cheil HK’s win was their haul of Gold Towers for client Chupa Chups. “Homework” won Gold for Print: Products and Services, Artistry and Craft in Advertising: Print and Outdoor, and Print: Best Use. “Music” and “Tidy-up” won a Gold Tower each for Print: Products and Services.

TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno won two Silver Towers for their campaign “Baybayan” for the Cultural Center of the Philippines. One was for Design: Brand Design and the other for Artistry and Craft in Advertising Design. For their part, Petch & Partners won Bronze Towers in Social Media & Influencer: Best Use and Film Craft for their “Connections should have no limits,” a campaign for VIVO. McCann Worldgroup Philippines also earned Bronze for Public Relations: Products & Services for “Side by Side,” a campaign for San Miguel Pale Pilsen.

Among TBWA\SMP’s winning works was “Baybayan”, a font that combines elements
of modern writing with ancient Filipino scripts to promote heritage and love of culture.

 

 

 

To highlight the strength of the APAC region, the Best in Show honor was given to a campaign from the region, namely “10 sec. drama: The Stop Line of Love.” A brainchild of HAKUHODO Inc. for jms/Toyota Mobility Parts, it is a series of 14 humorous 10-second clips featuring the products and car maintenance services offered in the brand’s stores. It also won a Grand Tower for Film: Best Use with the other Grand Tower from the region going to TBWA\HAKUHODO for “The most challenging ping pong table” on behalf of the Japan Para Table Tennis Association.

 

New York Festivals Industry Awards are determined by the number of high-scoring entries achieving trophies in the New York Festivals Advertising Awards competition based on votes cast by New York Festivals Executive Jury, Film Craft Executive Jury, Financial Executive Jury, and the Grand Jury panels.
