Events: DTI holds its 1st Creative Industry Summit virtually

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — With the theme, “Establishing the Foundations of the Philippine Creative Industries”, the first Creative Industry Summit of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will happen on 16 December 2021 (Thursday) virtually. It will be an avenue of commitment and collaboration to propel and unlock our stakeholders towards building a creative-driven economy. The Summit will gather all the stakeholders, industry associations, and organizations that enable and contribute to showcasing world-class Filipino talent and craftsmanship locally and internationally.

Joining in the celebration are key government agencies, including the Design Center of the Philippines (DCP), Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), National Book Development Board (NBDB), National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP).

The summit is divided into two (2) parts and will showcase the preliminary outputs and progress of the creative industry projects of the national government. The first part, entitled “Creating a Data-Driven and Market Oriented Creative Economy” will tackle the discussion on providing the scope and contribution of the creative sector. The session will highlight presentations from Mr. Dimiter Gantchev of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) together with the discussion on the Creative Industry Satellite Account and Dynamic Mapping Framework Project, respectively.

It will also feature three (3) breakout sessions where participants will get a chance to learn about the domains on ICT-Enabled Creatives, Creatives and Cultural Heritage, and Broadcast and Media Creatives. The sessions will focus on Game Development, Digital Animation, Software Development, Toys and Characters, and Design, Gastronomy, Performing Arts, Natural and Cultural Heritage, Visual Arts, Music, Digital Advertising, TV, Radio, and Print Media, Book and Publishing, and Film. The summit aims to solicit recommendations and feedback to help validate and improve the project methodologies and further enhance the creative initiatives of the government.
