MANILA, PHILIPPINES — GMA Pinoy TV gave its all-out support to the Filipino communities’ festivities in the different parts of the world as the Kapuso Network’s flagship international channel returns to live events this year to celebrate the 124th Philippine Independence Day.

Last June 5, the string of exciting events began in no less than the Big Apple. The “2022 Philippine Independence Anniversary Commemoration in New York,” touted as the biggest Philippine Independence Day Celebration (PIDC) parade outside of the country, was organized by the Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. (PIDCI) with GMA Pinoy TV and DISH as partners. GMA Pinoy TV had its own float during the parade with US-based Pinoy celebrities.

Also in the US, the Filipino American Community of Colorado presented the 27th Annual Philippine Festival last June 11 to 12 with the theme “Lift Up. Elevate.”

Filipinos in New York can continue watching Kapuso shows on GMA Pinoy TV through partner-carriers DIRECTV, DISH, Optimum, RCN, Spectrum, and Verizon. GMA Pinoy TV is likewise available in Colorado through DIRECTV, DISH, Spectrum, and Xfinity.

On the other side of the globe, Kapuso actress Andrea Torres joined Pinoys in Japan during the culmination of Philippine Expo 2022 held last June 12 at the Ueno Onshi Park, Tokyo.

One of the highlights of the three-day event was GMA Pinoy TV’s special segment where the Kapuso abroad gamely showed their dance moves and participated in the #StrongerTogether Dance Challenge. Despite the afternoon showers, tens of thousands still flocked to the venue and waited to see Andrea’s sizzling song and dance numbers. She also got to meet some of the Kapuso abroad at the GMA Pinoy TV booth, in partnership with I-Remit via carrier Mavshack.

Meanwhile, in Canada, GMA Pinoy TV joined the consecutive PIDC events slated in Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto as well as to celebrate the Philippine Heritage Month in June.

The Philippine Consulate in Vancouver’s “Proudly Philippines – Philippine Food and Travel Fair” was mounted last June 11 at Robson Square, Downtown Vancouver. The GMA Pinoy TV team hosted segments for a tinikling performance and a Tinikling 2.0 Dance Challenge, which were a huge hit for the Pinoy community in Vancouver.

The Philippine Canadian Charitable Foundation’s “Pinoy Fiesta and Trade Show sa Toronto 2022” last June 12 also marked the return of its in-person event. During the program, GMA Pinoy TV held the #StrongerTogether dance challenge with the Zumba ladies and had a raffle draw for the attendees.

Pista ng Bayan 2022,” another PIDC event in Vancouver, happened last June 18 at the Vancouver Art Gallery hosted by the United Filipino Canadian Associations of British Columbia (UFCABC). In Calgary, the “Elevate: Kultura at Trabaho” Job Fair hosted by Fiesta Filipino was held last June 19 at the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre. Adding to the highlights of both events include GMA Pinoy TV’s “Matira Matibay Trivia Game” segment about Filipino and Canadian cultures, and trivia about various Kapuso artists where winning attendees, along with raffle winners, received special gifts and prizes from GMA Pinoy TV.

These PIDC events in Canada were held in cooperation with GMA Pinoy TV’s carrier participants in the following areas: Vancouver and Calgary (TELUS and Shaw) and Toronto (Rogers, Bell, and Cogeco).

Lastly, in the Middle East, the internationally awarded Tree-to-Bar Filipino chocolate brand, Auro Chocolate recently opened in Bahrain. As part of the celebration of Filipino pride and independence, Auro, in partnership with GMA and partner-carrier OSN, launched a campaign to reward 80 of GMA Pinoy TV’s most loyal subscribers in Bahrain where they were given credits to avail of various Auro treats and locally-sourced coffee.

GMA Pinoy TV served as the exclusive media partner for these exciting festivities this year as Filipino communities get #StrongerTogether and festivals return to their pre-pandemic glory.

“After two years of holding virtual events at the height of the pandemic, we are as excited as our beloved Kapuso abroad now that physical events are starting to become possible again. We, at GMA Pinoy TV, extend our appreciation to all the Filipino communities for their unceasing dedication in bringing Filipinos together to celebrate our colorful heritage and for their continued partnership with us. This only goes to show that the Filipinos are truly stronger when they are together, no matter the circumstance,” said GMA International First Vice President and Head Joseph T. Francia.
